Knitting Pattern in English for an Elegant Sweater with a Romantic Lace Pattern at the Bottom Hem of the Sweater and the Sleeves, Worked with a Classic Raglan Set-Up with Saddle-Shoulder Elements and a Classic Round Neck in Sizes XS | S | M (L | XL | 2XL) 3XL | 4XL | 5XL.
Structure:
The yoke of the sweater, as well as the first half of the body after separating the sleeves, is worked in stockinette stitch. The body is initially worked back and forth in rows to shape the crew neckline. The sweater is then completed entirely in the round. The sweater is constructed so that, at first, increases are worked on right-side rows along the front and back only, creating a modified saddle-shoulder shape. This is followed by a section in which increases are worked along all four raglan lines on every odd-numbered round. For almost all sizes, the increases for the front and back are eventually worked on every round, while the sleeve increases continue to be worked on every odd-numbered round. This ensures the best possible fit across all sizes. Once the sleeves have been separated from the body, the body is worked without any further increases, first in stockinette stitch and then in a lace pattern, until the desired length is reached. The body is finished with an I-cord edging. The sleeve stitches are then returned to the needles, and new stitches are picked up and knitted from the body at the underarms. The sleeves are worked in the round, first in stockinette stitch and later in the lace pattern, until the desired length is reached. After working several decreases before the cuff, the cuff is also finished with an I-cord edging. The crew neckline is finished with an I-cord edging as well. The sweater has a highly oversized fit. The yoke is quite deep, creating a relaxed and cozy look. In contrast to the generous fit, the delicate lace pattern along the body and sleeves adds an airy, feminine counterpoint to the sweater’s oversized silhouette, making it the perfect piece for both everyday wear and more festive occasions. The sleeves are wide and, thanks to the decreases at the cuffs, have a balloon-like shape.
